About This Access Site
Located in the Deal Island Historic District of Somerset County, Wenona Harbor provides public access to the Lower Thorofare Creek. This facility features two launching lanes, a courtesy dock, and parking for approximately 15 boat trailers, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats. Portable restrooms are available on-site. The ramp is managed by the Somerset County Roads Department and is free to use.

The Lower Thorofare Creek offers paddlers access to shallow tidal waters characteristic of Maryland's Eastern Shore. This is ideal for paddlers seeking calm, protected waterways for exploring coastal creeks and marshes. The proximity to Glenn Martin National Wildlife Refuge (4,548 acres) provides excellent opportunities for wildlife observation. The facility's modest infrastructure suggests it serves primarily local and regional paddlers rather than high-volume traffic, making it a quieter alternative for accessing this area of the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
