About This Access Site
West Bass Lake offers paddlers and boaters a pristine 45-acre clear water lake with excellent day-use access via a maintained boat ramp. The lake features motor restrictions (electric motors only), making it ideal for kayakers and canoeists seeking a quieter paddling experience. The campground includes a sandy beach, picnic area, pit and vault toilets, and drinking water, providing convenient amenities for both day users and overnight visitors.

The facility is located in Florence County near Fence, Wisconsin, within the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest area. Campsites are available for $25 per night (29 sites total), and newly built showerhouses were completed in 2024. Beyond paddling, the area offers fishing and hiking trails around the lake. From Armstrong Creek, take Highway 8 west for 1.9 miles to Forest Road 2163, then turn north and drive 4 miles to the campground. For reservations or additional information, call (715) 674-4481.
