West Lake

West Lake offers a well-developed public access point in Hancock County with a concrete boat ramp, two docks, and ample parking for both vehicles and boat trailers. The facility is ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and small boat operators, with additional amenities including a covered picnic area, flush restrooms, and wheelchair accessibility. This makes it a convenient launching point for a full day of paddling or boating.

The lake is popular for recreational paddling and also hosts a 2,000-meter canoeing/rowing course used for training and events. Note that motorboats are prohibited from entering Alligator Creek at the east end of the lake, which helps preserve a quieter paddling area. The scenic setting makes West Lake a good destination for both active paddling and wildlife viewing, with the modern facilities supporting comfortable day visits for families and paddling groups alike.
