About This Access Site
West Pier is the largest public boat launch facility in the Presque Isle Bay area, featuring four launching lanes designed to accommodate larger watercraft. This makes it an excellent choice for kayakers and canoeists launching multi-person or larger boats, as well as for recreational boaters of all sizes. The ramp is located at Presque Isle State Park in Erie, providing access to both Presque Isle Bay and Lake Erie.

Paddlers should note that water skiing is permitted in both Presque Isle Bay and Lake Erie, with restrictions maintained within 500 feet of shore except during takeoff or approach. The facility is seasonally operated (May 1 through October 31), consistent with other Presque Isle Marina amenities. For those planning extended outings, nearby marina services including fuel, pump-out facilities, and restrooms are available at the Presque Isle Marina, which can accommodate boats up to 42 feet. If you need a smaller launch area, Vista Launch and Niagara Launch are alternative options in the region suited for smaller craft.
