About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** The West Point Boat Ramp is located in Hardin County, Kentucky, just west of Fort Knox. From US 31 W in West Point, turn onto the only blacktop road running east from the highway. The ramp provides convenient access to the Salt River, with the Ohio River entrance located less than a quarter-mile downstream.

**Facilities & Water Access:** This site features a double-lane concrete boat ramp with ample parking for day users. Paddlers and boaters can access a scenic stretch of the Salt River between the Ohio River and the area restricted by Fort Knox. The proximity to the Ohio River (John T. Myers Locks and Dam is approximately 3.5 miles downstream) makes this an ideal launch point for those wanting to explore either waterway.

**Important Note:** The West Point Boat Ramp was closed beginning November 27, 2023, for a complete renovation project. The improvements include a new concrete ramp, enhanced loop access, and upgraded asphalt parking. Before planning your trip, verify the current reopening date with the city of West Point, as this facility may still be under construction.
