About This Access Site
West Robinson Lake, located near Ely in St. Louis County, offers a boat ramp for paddlers and boaters looking to access this backcountry destination. This is a first-come, first-served site with minimal development, making it an ideal put-in for kayakers and canoeists seeking a more remote paddling experience. There are no launch fees at this access point.

Once on the water, paddlers will find a near-wilderness setting with one designated backcountry campsite available. The site includes basic amenities such as a fire grate and latrine, though facilities are minimal as befits a backcountry area. Keep in mind that all water should be treated or boiled before use, food must be properly hung, and campfires must be fully extinguished when leaving. The lake is well-suited for day paddling or overnight trips for those seeking solitude in the Superior National Forest area.
