About This Access Site
Wheatland Park offers a well-maintained boat ramp providing convenient access to Pomme de Terre Lake, known as the "Gem of the Ozarks" for its deep, clear spring-fed waters. Located in the scenic west-central Missouri Ozarks near Wheatland in Hickory County, the facility includes a courtesy dock alongside the ramp, making it easy to launch kayaks, canoes, and other watercraft. The park also features two shower houses, a swim beach, and picnic areas, making it a good basecamp for a full day on the water.

The campground portion of Wheatland Park is reservable and open March through November. For paddlers planning an extended visit, on-site camping is available. Additional amenities include a group picnic shelter (capacity 75) with electricity and a playground. The lake's calm, clear waters make it ideal for recreational paddling and exploration.

Most likely, the river was named by early French trappers and fur traders, who discovered plants resembling potatoes on the riverbanks.Recreation
Pomme de Terre Lake is popular among water skiers and anglers. A number of coves on the lake provide seclusion for ideal fishing conditions, regardless of power boating on other areas of the lake. Largemouth bass, crappie and white bass are common catches, but it is the stocked muskie fishing that is particularly popular as muskie are rare to the region.Facilities
Wheatland Park has 36 campsites with electric and water hookups and 7 sites with electric hookups only. The accessible group picnic shelter fits up to 75 guests and has electricity. Additional amenities include two shower houses, a boat ramp, courtesy dock, playground and a swim beach.Natural Features
Pomme de Terre Lake is located in the rugged, tree-topped hills of the west-central Missouri Ozarks. The lake is long and winding with 7,790 surface acres and 113 miles of shoreline.
