Wheatland Reservoir #1 offers convenient public boat access in Platte County near Whiting, Wyoming. The site features two concrete boat ramps with handicap-accessible docks and multiple developed parking areas with maintained comfort stations. This makes it a well-equipped launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters exploring the reservoir.
The access area is open year-round and supports a variety of recreation including fishing (Channel Catfish, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, and Yellow Perch) and boating. Note that the access road and parking areas are not plowed during winter months, which may limit accessibility in snow conditions. Camping is available nearby with a 5-day limit, and there are additional developed areas further down the road. The reservoir is fed by water diverted from the Laramie River below Wheatland Reservoir #2, providing a stable water source for paddling and boating activities.
