About This Access Site
White Iron Lake's north boat ramp provides convenient access to this popular paddling destination near Ely, Minnesota. This is one of two public concrete boat ramps on White Iron Lake, both located on the west side of the water body. The north ramp offers a straightforward launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats looking to explore the lake.

Paddlers should be aware that water levels on White Iron Lake fluctuate seasonally due to a hydroelectric dam at the outlet of Garden Lake. The lake connects to the broader paddling network via Farm Lake and Garden Reservoir, offering extended exploration opportunities for those interested in multi-lake trips. First-come, first-served backcountry campsites are available on nearby West Twin Lake and accessible only by boat or foot, making this an excellent base for overnight paddling adventures. For those preferring developed camping facilities, Fenske Lake and Birch Lake campgrounds are reservable options within 10 miles of the access site.
