Wilkins Lake

Wilkins Lake is a moderately sized lake in central Aitkin County featuring clear water and a scenic setting of forested rolling hills with wetland areas. The township-owned public access point is located on the east side of the lake and features a concrete log ramp suitable for launching boats up to 12-18 feet, though no dock is available. There are no launch fees unless a vehicle permit is required.

This access point is ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and recreational boaters looking to explore a quieter lake environment. The surrounding landscape of mixed forest and wetlands offers scenic paddling opportunities. Nearby recreation areas include the Mississippi River Headwaters near Sandy Lake and Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge, located just south of McGregor, making this a good base for exploring multiple water bodies in the region.
