Located on U.S. Highway 101 just south of the Bay Center turnoff in Naselle, this Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife boat ramp provides direct access to the southernmost portion of Willapa Bay and its tidal sloughs. Kayakers and canoeists can paddle Parker Slough to Tarlatt Slough (approximately 1.3 miles one-way) or venture further into the bay (1.5+ miles), making this an excellent launch point for exploring shallow-water estuarine habitat. The ramp is best used at a 7.5-foot incoming tide to ensure adequate water depth.
This access site serves paddlers interested in wildlife viewing and natural area exploration within Willapa National Wildlife Refuge, a protected estuary established to preserve migrating bird habitat and coastal wetlands. Be aware that portions of the refuge are closed during waterfowl hunting season (October 1–February 10), and note that GPS/app-based directions can be unreliable in this area—watch for the milepost markers on Highway 101. Basic facilities are available at the refuge headquarters. Consider tidal conditions carefully when planning your trip, as water levels fluctuate significantly in this bay system.
