About This Access Site
Willtown Bluff is a boat ramp providing access to the Edisto River near Hollywood in Charleston County. Located at river mile 24, this launch point gives paddlers and boaters entry to one of the largest undeveloped estuaries on the East Coast. The ramp is situated at the end of Willtown Road (Road 55), approximately 5 miles south of Parkers Ferry Road, which turns off US 17 about 3 miles east of the river crossing. **Note:** Parking is limited at this site, so plan accordingly.

From Willtown Bluff, paddlers have excellent downstream access to the Edisto River system as it winds through the ACE Basin—a vast network of tidal marshes and estuaries formed by the Ashepoo, Combahee, and Edisto rivers. The next designated landing is Penny Creek (river mile 29, 2.5 miles upstream), while downstream paddlers can explore the river's lower reaches toward Edisto Beach State Park and the Atlantic Ocean. This area is part of the Ernest F. Hollings ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge and National Estuarine Research Reserve, making it ideal for wildlife viewing and nature-focused paddling.
