The Winchester Lake boat ramp provides access to this scenic 700-acre lake in northwestern Connecticut. The concrete launch is open seasonally from April 15th to November 30th, making it a popular spot for kayakers, canoeists, and small powerboats during the warmer months.
The boat ramp is located just off Route 263, about 1.2 miles from the intersection with Route 44 in Winsted. There is a small parking area adjacent to the launch, with space for less than 10 vehicles. Paddlers and boaters should be prepared for a fairly short carry from their vehicles to the water's edge.
Winchester Lake is a great destination for a peaceful day on the water. The lake's relatively sheltered coves and inlets offer excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and exploring by small craft. Anglers will find the lake stocked with trout by the state's fisheries program. Boaters should be aware of any applicable size or motor restrictions before launching.
