About This Access Site
Located approximately 7 miles east of Ponca City on Kaw Lake, Windmill Cove provides a convenient boat launch for paddlers and anglers accessing this north-central Oklahoma reservoir. The site is situated near the Kaw Lake dam and Hideaway Marina, making it a good jumping-off point for exploring the lake and its connected waterways. A nearby campground with reservable sites ($18/night through Recreation.gov) offers overnight accommodation for extended paddling trips.

Kaw Lake is known for excellent fishing opportunities, particularly for catfish, crappie, white bass, and walleye, which can attract other boat traffic during peak seasons. Paddlers should be prepared for typical lake conditions and check current water levels before launching. The area provides good day-use access and is convenient to other recreational facilities around the lake.
