This primitive launch provides access to the Withlacoochee River in remote Sumter County. The small parking area is located near Iron Bridge, accessible via CR 145 north from Madison through Pinetta. The launch is easy to miss, so look carefully near the bridge approach. A yellow-blazed trail is marked on the north side of the parking area for those exploring on foot.
The Withlacoochee River at this location is suitable for kayaking and canoeing, though paddlers should be aware this is a remote location with limited facilities. A yellow-marked trail system is available from the parking area. Overnight parking may not be secure, so day-use is recommended. Paddlers planning longer trips should note that the river eventually connects to the Withlacoochee Barge Canal, which leads toward the Gulf of Mexico; however, river access is blocked past the Iron Bridge area, requiring paddlers to use the canal route instead.
