Woodman Recreation Area

**Location & Facilities**
The Woodman Recreation Area provides public boat access to the Big Green River in Wauzeka, Grant County, Wisconsin. The site features a public launch ramp off Indiana Avenue and is adjacent to the Wisconsin DNR's Woodman Unit of the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway, offering parking and easy water access for kayakers and canoeists.

The Big Green River in this area is characterized as a relatively lazy, gentle waterway ideal for recreational paddling. From the Woodman launch, paddlers can explore upstream in either direction or plan downstream trips. A popular route runs from Dells Dam to Indian Trails Landing (approximately 6.2 miles). Be aware that while the lower section is generally navigable, downed trees may occasionally block the channel. For multi-segment trips, alternative take-out points exist via ramps off Wisconsin Dells Parkway/Highway 12 and near Highway 133, though the latter may require significant boat dragging. The Little Green River, a tributary, may also offer paddling opportunities though conditions vary.
