Description
The Dam! rapid on Wheeling Creek is an absolute mandatory portage due to a hazardous dam structure that creates an extreme safety risk for paddlers. Boaters must exit and carry their watercraft completely around the dam on river left, paying close attention to potential hydraulic dangers and ensuring a wide berth from the dam's potentially lethal recirculating water features.
