The Ripplemead boat ramp is a developed river access with a pit toilet and large parking area upstream of the 460 bridge. From Pembroke, take the Ripplemead exit off of 460, then turn right at the end of the ramp. The road becomes two lanes, then one lane, then gravel as it passes under the 460 bridge and continues upstream to the boat ramp.
If the flow is good or you just want a longer trip, you can put in at Pembroke, about 2.5 miles upstream. This adds one rapid which is just below the put-in. Pembroke has a boat ramp and ample parking but no toilet.
