Description
Thanks go out to Rick Stohlquist and crew for cleaning and probing this high quality creek run. At 325 cfs, this was a very fun and manageable class V creeking adventure. Most rapids come in the form of pool-drop, many being a double drop combination. Due to the newness of the run, be sure to scout everything you can't see. There is wood and there are definite portages. These inconveinences aside, this run is positively worth checking out. PUT-IN: Horsethief Park TAKE-OUT: Stunner Campground DIRECTIONS: From Monte Vista, head south on 15. Turn right (west) towards Terrace Reservoir on FR 250. After about 25 miles on 250, the road will fork. Take the right fork (FR 380), and shortly thereafter, turn left into Stunner Campground. This works well for a take-out. To get to the put-in, continue west on 380 about 4-5 miles to a a large meadow (Horsethief Park). You can put-in at the bridge and run a sketchy 10 footer or put-in further downstream (recommended).
