Description
The Provo River town sections have a few play spots and provides an interesting tour of homes along the river. This section runs in the spring months with increased flows at the end of May for the June sucker fish release which also usually provides water for the Bridalveil section of the Provo River. http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?gage=pppu1&wfo=slc

Shuttle Info
For the upper town section, which is about 2 miles,  from I-15 take Orem 800 North Exit East to the mouth of Provo Canyon. Head south on University Ave (Hwy 189) to 5600N and turn west on N. Carterville Rd. Park behind the Centaur Printing building. Put in right there, or hike upstream to the below or above the diversion dam. Takeout: Go south on N. University Avenue, then turn West on W 3700 North. Go straight through the roundabout, then before the bridge look for a paved driveway on the south side of the river. There is parking by the river. After about 100 yards it turns into private property, please respect the private property here and all along the river. (There are two diversion dams in between these sections that are probable portages. One is right before the bridge at 2230N and the other is right after the Columbia Lane bridge. ) For the lower town section, about 3 miles, put in from the trail on river left below the diversion dam by Columbia Lane. The best place to park is in the back of the medical center on 500 West just South of Columbia Lane. Take out at the first Provo River Trail access point on W Boat Harbor Drive (470 North I think). There are two more access points to the river and the trail farther West but depending on the level of Utah Lake they are usually flat-water paddles. If you go all the way to Utah Lake State park you can add 2 miles of mellow flat water to the run.
