A remote, difficult to access, and rarely boated run with incredible scenery. Put in may or may not be accessible depending on Forest Service road conditions. Take out access on St. Johns Road could require private property owner permission. The most common take-out option is Oak Flat for the class III/IV run. Shuttle drivers are recommended for this reach.
Warning: past Oak Flat and Butter Creek, the river enters Hyampom Gorge, which includes challenging class V drops and portages. It might be necessary to negotiate this section, described in the Cassady/Calhoun book, if you cannot find a legal take-out.
A 2019 fisheries restoration project placed large wood structures in this section of river. Please be aware that these may block passage.
