Description
This is primarily a class II float with class IV Cascade Rapids upstream of the put-in or start higher up above the Agnes Creek confluence to tackle the class IV/V gorge run. You'll need to break out the inflatible kayaks for this one as it's a 55 mile down the lake on the passenger ferry Lady of the Lake to get to the take-out. You can find information on their web site for shuttle bus service in the valley which you will need to reach the put-in. You will also want to check the latest road conditions with North Cascades National Park. The road network took a beating in the October 2003 floods. There is a put-in about 0.3 downstream of Bullion Camp that is the standard access for the class II run. You can continue a short distance upstream to an alternate put-in about 0.5 mile upstream of Bullion where the road begins the climb up to High Bridge. This adds the class IV Cascade Rapids (just downstream of Agnes Creek). Finallly, you can head up to Tumwater Campground if you want to run the expert run, a short class IV/V run through the gorge from Tumwater Campground to the Agnes Creek confluence.
