Description
A steep, fast, nonstop boulder garden, that is runnable when all other local runs are at big water levels. 'The South Branch drops off the should of Sugarloaf Ski Area and is a fairly unknown step run of granite boulders, mostly clean and boat scoutable. I bet that on a warm spring day you could somehow ski down to your boat and then get it and go creeking. Raoids of note shortly below the put in is a big ledge that makes a 90 degree bend at the bottom in a narrow flume. The creek continues for two miles in a deep, remote gorge. Several more good drops lie near the bridge at the Sugarloaf Gold Course. You can take out here, or continue downstream through an easier section tothe rt 27 bridge. If a problem arises, it is probably easier to hike out on river right unless you are right at the put in. The river left bank is amazingly steep and dense with trees. Though the road feels close, it is defintely not. Experience speaking.' - let it rain.
