Description
This run starts out slow with grungy class II but turns into a great run by the end.
Once you've finished the creek you have a couple miles of high quality class III/IV on the East Fork
Lewis. If you can get past the mellow rapids at the start and have good healthy water levels after
some steady rain, you'll enjoy this run. The run may be a bit grungy at the begining but you'll soon
pick up some extra water from Cedar Creek which enters from the left. The pace begins to pick up
as you enter a short bedrock gorge section which provides some good class II/III rapids.
The gradient tapers off again as you enter another short section of alder forest with
a few homes and a couple of foot bridges across the creek. Soon a second significant tributary
plunges in from the left as a ledge falls. Just a short distance downstream you'll come to a river-
wide ledge about 7' in height. You can get out to take a peak but there is a nice flake you can boof
right of center. This drop marks the start of a great class III+ section with continuous action and a
few great drops that take you all the way down to the East Fork Lewis.
The run continues on the East Fork Lewis where more powerful bigwater rapids
await ( full description).
