Description
This one is very technical class 4 (not as technical as Cucumber Run in general), with one real gem. It's sort of an s-turn slide dropping probably about 12-15 feet. A little tricky, but certainly not class 5 under normal water levels. Description from Rd. 3001: The few first miles are boogie water and most of the focus is on avoiding rocks. It seemed like it was too low, but we found out eventually that when the gradient picks up, there was plenty of water. The first scout-worthy drop was the 8-foot drop (I'd say it's more like 6) into a big hole with a few guardian rocks at the top. We ran center, avoiding pinning rocks, and boofed over the hole easily. The next drop was the best one. It's a sequence of two slides and it's worth it to scout the entire rapid. After some more boogie, there's a sketchy slot drop on river right. It's easy to scout, and two of us decided on a sneak which entailed beaching ourselves on the boulder creating the left side of the slot and gorilla-walking to the end and plopping off. Then came the tunnel. It's steep and seriously intimidating and the log at the end of it makes it moreso, but at the level we hit it at we scraped bottom for the second half of the tunnel which slowed us down enough to have the wits to duck the log. There are some fun waves and easily avoided holes on the Casselman from there to Harnedsville.
