Description
A dam has been replace with rock-arch rapids. Downstream, a couple of ledges may provide some surfing opportunities (at certain flows). The Luce Line State Trail runs along river-left, providing a handy carry-up for this short stretch.
For those looking for a longer run, it does appear there may be some additional shoals downstream. Check just upstream and downstream of 2nd Avenue SE, at Adams Street SE, at 160th Street, and (not convenient to check other than by running the stretch) a ways upstream of Front Street / Hwy.22 (which would be a run of ~7.9 miles).
This will most often be done as a park-and-play, so 'shuttle' will be on foot, up the Luce Line State Trail. We therefore have set the directions here to be from your home zip to this location. Use the text-entry box to input a more specific starting address to get actual drive time, distance, and directions.
