Description
About 200' to 300' downstream from the bridge, a river wide ledge creates a surfing hole 75' wide with eddys on both sides. This hole is a lot like the head gates on the East Race, with room for at least three boats/boaters at one time to surf and spin to their hearts' content. This is a good place for new paddlers to learn side surfing and flat-spinning, or a good place to go in spring to 'knock off the rust' when you have not been in your boat all winter. The water is not too deep nor fast below this hole, so rescue (if needed) should be easy. When you're done, carry your boat to above the ledge, then paddle back to the bridge. Access is from Etna Avenue in Huntington. I have parked in the school drive on weekends and not had any problems.

Shuttle Info
Since this is a 'park-and-play', shuttle is just carrying to the river, paddling to the feature, and paddling back upstream to your vehicle. Thus, we have set the 'directions' to default to your home zipcode. Use the text-entry box to input any more specific location to get drive time, distance, and directions to this play location.
