Mystic Creek to Bear Creek Campground

The WF Cow Creek correlation is not perfect, it is a ballpark to give an indicator of whether the run might be in or not.  The foot gauge is the definitive gauge, and is located at the Twelvemile Creek Bridge.  6" is a lower runnable flow that will likely require portaging _Handful of Hell,_ a handful of tough class V rapids below the Twelvemile Creek bridge.  Upper limits are undetermined, but 1.5' is a reasonable flow to shoot for on your first trip.  Lots of rain is needed in the area.  There was enough water to get down the run (would likely require a number of portages) with the WF Cow Creek gauge reading a little over 300 cfs, but this is really not a recommended flow.  After a few return trips and with about 4 data points collected, over 1,000 cfs is really a better level to shoot for. This run is conveniently located alongside HWY 42 in the southern coast range.  Much of it can be scouted beforehand if you poke around a bit. Most of the rest of the rapids are bouldery and steep with some ledges thrown in.  Treat this run like an exploratory trip until more beta becomes available. The signature rapid of the run (Shot in the Dark) is also one of the first.  Shot in the Dark has a sliding lead-in to a 10 foot drop, it has been run successfully far left at about 300 cfs on the WF Cow Creek gauge.
