Description
The Upper Connecticut is well known for its trout fishing, not whitewater.  Most of the major drops on the river were damed up many years ago creating several lakes including First, Second, and Third Connecticut lakes and Lake Francis.  Shortly downstream from the outlet to Lake Francis is a short creeky section that is seldom run.  This section has several ledge drops that culminates in one larger drop right at the covered bridge takeout.  Be aware that portaging and scouting is difficult because of steep banks and thickly wooded banks with many fallen spruce trees. Before you go,youbetter take alookattheflowfrom Murphydam. Indian Stream could be pumping while Murphy dam is only at 200 CFS http://www.h2oline.com/srcs/335123.html
