Description
Fine mild whitewater stretch located in the Rapidan watershed. Beware of low water bridges and other creeky hazards.
Ed Evangelidi testifies:
This creek loses gradient as it heads downstream, and it has generally harder rapids in the upper PA Rte. So from its headwaters to below Rte. 231 is a fast-paced set of Cl 2+ rapids with occasional low water bridges and strainers. Below that to Rte. 29 are some nice rapids but they are much more spaced out and the creek is a bit wider. Below US 29 the creek is flatter still. The mild rapids in the upper parts get vicious, with hungry hydraulics, at very high water.
