Armitage Park offers a convenient single-lane boat ramp with trailer parking for accessing the McKenzie River in Eugene. This location serves as a popular take-out point for float trips originating upstream at Hendricks Bridge County Park, as well as a put-in spot for downstream paddling and fishing trips. The ramp provides easy access for both motorized and non-motorized boats entering the river's moderate flow.
Paddlers should be prepared for the McKenzie's characteristic features in this section: shallow areas and braided channels that require attentive navigation. As with the entire McKenzie River system, watch for strainers and other river hazards. The park includes a vault toilet facility at the put-in area. Several campgrounds are located within 10 miles, including South Twin Lake, Graham Corral Horse, and Whispering Pines Horse Camp (all reservable), making this a convenient staging area for multi-day paddling trips.
