**Location & Access:** Ben & Kay Dorris Park is a county boat ramp located on the McKenzie River near Vida, Oregon, approximately 25 miles east of Springfield. The park offers good bank access and an easy boat launch suitable for kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats.
**Practical Information for Paddlers:** This is an excellent take-out point for upper McKenzie River trips, particularly recommended for avoiding Marten Rapids located just downstream. The park sits at roughly mile 9.2 on the river corridor and serves as either a convenient alternate put-in or take-out depending on your trip plans. The surrounding area is known for trout and steelhead fishing opportunities. Note that this is a good spot to exit the river before hazardous whitewater, with the next access point being Helfrich Landing further downstream.
**River Character:** The McKenzie River in this area flows through a scenic, lush corridor in the Cascade Range, known for its cool waters and abundant fish and wildlife. Paddlers should be aware of rapids downstream and plan their trips accordingly based on current water conditions and skill level.
