**Facility Overview**
Bob Creek is a BLM-managed access site offering both a concrete boat ramp and separate raft launch facilities on the Snake River near Oxbow. The site features a large pool for boat launching and a back channel designated for rafts. Note that the raft launch area has swift water with some deteriorated steps, so rafts should be fully prepared before launching. Handicap parking is located near the boat ramp, while main parking is available by the pavilion.
**River Conditions & Character**
The Snake River at this location is a major river system (Stream Order 9) with substantial flow averaging nearly 50,000 cubic feet per second. Expect roller coaster waves and turbulent water upstream of the launch. The river's steep average gradient of 15.8 ft/mile creates powerful current and swift conditions typical of this section. This is suitable for experienced paddlers and boaters; less experienced users should assess their skill level carefully before launching.
**Directions & Nearby Recreation**
From Oxbow, turn right onto Cross Plains Hulett Road (across from Smallwood's), then take the gravel road left at the 3-way stop (Hutcheson Ferry Road). The boat area entrance is on the left past the power lines. The site provides access to both Oxbow and Brownlee Reservoirs and proximity to the Hells Canyon Wilderness area, offering diverse recreation opportunities in this scenic section of the Snake River.
