Carmen Bridge is a popular Idaho Fish and Game access point located approximately 5 miles downstream from the City of Salmon on the Salmon River in Lemhi County. This 12-acre site provides boat launch and fishing access and serves as a convenient put-in or take-out for paddlers and boaters exploring this section of the river. The site is especially popular during summer boating season and spring/fall steelhead fishing periods.
The Salmon River at this location is a major waterway with substantial flow (averaging over 13,000 cubic feet per second) and a notable gradient of 23.1 feet per mile, giving paddlers an active, dynamic river experience. Expect moderate current and river conditions typical of a major stream in central Idaho. Several other access points are located both upstream and downstream—including Kilpatrick, Waddington Creek, Elevenmile, and Morgan Bar—allowing for flexible trip planning. Please get in and out of the boat ramp quickly to keep the area accessible for other users.
For additional information about this access site or river conditions, contact the BLM-Salmon Field Office at (208) 756-5400. Nearby camping options include Tower Rock Campground, Wallace Lake Campground, and Morgan Bar Recreation Site (which also has a boat ramp and charges a $5/night fee).
