About This Access Site
Fairbanks Park in Terre Haute offers convenient access to the Wabash River via a concrete boat ramp and dock located on the southern end of the property. The park is a large facility running along the riverbank, making it an excellent starting point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters exploring this section of the river. Parking is available in designated areas throughout the park.

The Wabash River in this area is characterized by slow current and relatively calm conditions, making it suitable for paddlers of various skill levels. South of the I-70 bridges, you'll encounter sandbars that can create more interesting water dynamics. The river flows through Indiana on its way from Ohio toward the Illinois border, where it eventually joins the Ohio River. Fishing is also permitted at this access point, adding to the site's appeal for outdoor enthusiasts.
