Leaburg Landing, located in Walterville off Highway 126, is a convenient public access point on the McKenzie River featuring a gravel boat ramp and bank access. The site offers basic amenities including restrooms, picnic areas, and disabled access, making it an accessible option for day trips and fishing access.
This landing serves as a useful put-in or take-out for paddlers exploring the McKenzie River, a scenic waterway that ranges from Class III+ to Class II+ difficulty depending on the section. Flows accommodate kayaks and rafts between 600–6,000 cfs (check the USGS gauge at Vida for current conditions). For paddlers, Ben and Kay Dorris County Park with its boat ramp is located approximately 2.9 miles downstream and offers an alternate take-out option.
The site provides access for fishing (trout, salmon, and steelhead) and is near the ODFW Leaburg Hatchery. Cascara Campground is available within 10 miles for those planning an overnight trip. Check water conditions and flow rates before paddling, as the McKenzie can be dynamic and technical in sections.
