The ramp is located on a major river system with substantial flow (averaging over 10,500 cubic feet per second) and a moderate gradient of 1.5 feet per mile, making it suitable for various paddling and boating activities. When using this facility, follow the one-way traffic signs that direct you around the north side of the former marina building, then continue along the east side and pull up on the south side to launch.
The Black River is a large waterway (Stream Order 9) with a total length of 288 miles and a substantial drainage area of 8,413 square miles. With an average velocity of 2.83 feet per second, paddlers and boaters should be prepared for moderate current conditions typical of a major river system.
