The Patty Bridge boat ramp provides access to the Hiwassee River in Polk County, Tennessee. This section of the Hiwassee is generally slow-moving flatwater, making it suitable for a range of watercraft including kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats.
The boat ramp is located along the river's lower section, between North Mouse Creek and the Blythe Ferry boat ramp near the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge and the Tennessee River. Paddlers can explore this scenic stretch of the Hiwassee, which flows through the Cherokee National Forest. Nearby campgrounds like Lost Corral Horse Camp and Parksville Lake RV Campground offer places to stay and launch from.
While the Patty Bridge access is well-suited for flatwater paddling and motorized boating, the Hiwassee River also has whitewater sections further upstream that may be better suited for experienced paddlers. Boaters should research river conditions and plan their trip accordingly based on their skill level and the river flow.
