This hard-surface DEC boat launch, located 4 miles east of Tupper Lake on NYS Routes 3 & 30, provides access to the Raquette River system. The ramp accommodates multiple vehicles and trailers, making it a convenient put-in for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters exploring this section of the river. The facility is known locally as "The Crusher" and serves as a primary access point for the area.
Paddlers launching here can explore both upstream and downstream sections of the Raquette River. Upstream access leads toward Stoney Creek Ponds, while downstream paddling eventually connects to Carry Falls Reservoir (3,009 acres), the largest body of water in the complex. Be aware that two portages are required where the river crosses conservation easement lands with restricted use at Main Camp and Saunders Camp exclusion areas.
Before heading out, familiarize yourself with special fishing regulations that apply to the Raquette River, and plan your route accordingly if you're targeting the reservoir. For wheelchair accessibility information and other recreation options in the area, contact the DEC or visit their Accessible Recreation Destinations web page.
