About This Access Site
The Reliance boat ramp, also known as the Towee Creek Launch, provides easy access to the Hiwassee River, a large, powerful river flowing through the Cherokee National Forest. With an average flow of nearly 5,000 cubic feet per second and an overall gradient of 16.7 feet per mile, the Hiwassee presents an exciting challenge for experienced paddlers and boaters.

The ramp is a popular launch point for fishing, kayaking, and canoeing on this scenic river, which is home to trout, stripers, and walleye. Nearby, the John Muir Trail offers hiking opportunities, and several campgrounds within 10 miles provide accommodation options. While the ramp itself is free and open to the public, there are no reservations or fees required. Paddlers should exercise caution on the river and be prepared for the Hiwassee's strong current and potential obstacles.
