About This Access Site
**Overview & Access**
Spring Bar is a primary boat ramp and take-out point on the Salmon River located 10.5 miles east of Riggins via Big Salmon Road and Forest Road 1614. The facility offers a launching ramp alongside 18 tent campsites (no reservations required) with tables and fire rings at most sites. Be aware that the final approach involves a narrow, tight turn at a bridge crossing—trailers longer than 25 feet may have difficulty accessing the ramp.

**River Conditions & Paddling**
The Salmon River at this location is a major waterway (8th-order stream) with significant flow averaging 13,100 cubic feet per second and an average velocity of 5.22 feet/second. This section features a moderate gradient and relatively flat water suitable for floaters and take-out operations. Non-motorized boating is permitted without a special permit. Downstream features include the South Fork confluence and several Class III rapids, making Spring Bar an ideal take-out for multi-day floats.

**Facilities & Logistics**
Spring Bar Campground provides basic camping amenities, but plan accordingly—there is no cell reception or public phone service at the site. The nearest services, including fuel and supplies, are available in Riggins. The area offers fishing and swimming opportunities along with proximity to Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. Watch for potential wildlife hazards such as rattlesnakes in the surrounding area.
