About This Access Site
Ward Marsh is a Vermont Fish & Wildlife access area located in West Haven along the Poultney River, offering public boat launch access to this scenic waterway on the New York-Vermont border. The 81-acre Ward Marsh Wildlife Management Area provides 3,900 feet of riverfront access, making it a convenient put-in point for kayakers and canoeists exploring the Poultney River.

**Access & Directions:** From Route 4 near Whitehall, NY (or from Rutland, VT going east), turn north onto Route 9A across from Bittersweet Plaza. At the T intersection, turn left onto Route 9, then take the first right onto Route 10 (Doig Street). Turn left onto the unmarked dirt road and cross the bridge; the boat ramp will be on your left, with a parking area a short distance further up the road.

This is a Vermont Department of Fish & Wildlife maintained access area suitable for smaller watercraft. Before visiting, check current conditions and water levels with the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department, as the Poultney River's flow and paddling conditions can vary seasonally. The site serves as a good starting point for exploring this section of the river, particularly for those interested in wildlife viewing and fishing opportunities in the marsh area.
