Wingate Bar is a popular boat ramp and river access site on the Klamath River in Siskiyou County, California. The graded gravel road leads directly to the water's edge, making it a convenient launch point for kayaks, canoes, and small motorized boats.
The Klamath River is a major waterway, flowing over 250 miles from the Cascade Range to the Pacific Ocean. With an average flow rate over 18,000 cubic feet per second and a total elevation drop of over 4,000 feet, the Klamath is a substantial river suitable for a variety of boating activities. Paddlers and anglers will find a mix of riffles, pools, and rapids as they navigate the river.
The U.S. Forest Service manages the Wingate Bar site, providing an information sign, parking area, and portable restroom during the summer months. There is also limited space for dispersed camping nearby. Boaters should use caution and be prepared for changing river conditions when launching from this remote access point on the Klamath.
