About This Access Site
The Oxbo access point on the Flambeau River in Price County provides convenient entry to one of Wisconsin's premier paddling destinations. Located in the North Fork section of the river, this site offers access to a scenic stretch of water that flows through the Flambeau River State Forest. The river caters to paddlers of all skill levels, with everything from gentle flatwater sections to challenging rapids depending on water conditions and which segments you choose.

From Oxbo, paddlers can explore multiple routes and distances along the North Fork, with several established landings spaced throughout the river system for trip planning flexibility. When water levels are medium to high, nearby sections feature exciting whitewater including Class II+ rapids and longer flatwater stretches. For those seeking a more relaxed paddle, the lower sections offer lazy flatwater with boulders and occasional shoreline riffles. The river system includes 14 riverside canoe camps throughout the state forest, making multi-day trips feasible.

There is no charge to use this or other Flambeau River landings, and overnight parking is permitted if you're planning a camping trip. Paddlers should check current water levels before heading out, as conditions significantly affect which river sections are suitable for your skill level. The proximity to multiple access points and campsites makes this an excellent base for exploring different segments of this well-maintained paddle route.
