Shenandoah - 3. Millville, WV to Harpers Ferry (Potoma Wayside, VA or Weverton, MD) (WV)

Gauge Conditions
Runnable: 1.7 – 9.0 FT

Description

After the confluence with the Potomac, there is a set of Class II waves named "Mad Dog" Rapids by the rafting companies.  The West Virginia/Virginia state line comes down the river right side ridge to the Potomac (the Potomac river itself is always Maryland), so from here, the river right side of the Potomac is in Virginia.  (Picture is of "Mad Dog" rapid on the Potomac at low water [1.54' Point of Rocks gage].)

'Mad Dog' Playspot Levels:

'Mad Dog Wave' (river left) 2-4 feet [Point of Rocks gage] - small smooth wave good for front surfing.
