About This Access Site
Big River Campground provides a convenient boat launch for accessing the Deschutes River near Sunriver in central Oregon's Cascade region. The day-use area features a dedicated boat ramp, picnic tables, and restrooms, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. Note that motors are prohibited on this section of the Deschutes River. The facility is located across the road from the main campground, which offers both individual and group camping sites if you plan to stay overnight.

When launching here, be aware of river regulations: if you're accessing the Deschutes River below Moody Rapid (downstream from the campground toward Heritage Landing), you'll need a Moody Island Boater Pass, available for purchase on-site. The campground and its boat launch are easily accessible from Bend—travel 17.3 miles south on Highway 97, then 12.2 miles southwest on County Road 42. For reservations or additional information, contact the facility at 541-323-1746.
