The USFS-managed facility is open year-round, weather permitting, and serves as a popular launch point for exploring the Lower Deschutes River. This section of river features scenic canyon views and varying rapid conditions typical of the Deschutes, making it suitable for paddlers of different skill levels.

**Important permits and regulations:** A Warm Springs Tribal permit is required for all users launching or landing at Harpham Flat, even for brief stops. Additionally, all boats must be clean, drained, and dry to prevent aquatic invasive species. Be sure to review the Lower Deschutes River Rules & Regulations before your trip.
