Slough Camp offers a convenient boat ramp access point on the Deschutes River near Sunriver, situated among mature ponderosa pines along a scenic bend in the river. The site includes a boat ramp, vault toilet, and several picnic tables, making it suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats. This location provides access to the scenic, relatively gentle lower Deschutes River with its characteristic lazy curves and scenic canyon views.
Paddlers launching here can enjoy a pleasant downstream float to the Dillon Falls Day Use Area and Boat Ramp, passing through the restored Ryan Meadow section where recent habitat work has reconnected the river with backwater sloughs. The area is situated within the Deschutes National Forest, offering a scenic paddle through ponderosa forest and open terrain. **Note:** Water levels fluctuate seasonally due to dam operations—drawdown begins September 16, and refill starts January 1. Check current conditions before visiting during these periods, as water levels may affect ramp usability.
